Request quotes using the same details
When comparing offers, keep pickup and return times and locations, driver age, and vehicle class consistent. Different dates or details make prices difficult to compare directly. Note what information each quote uses and check that the terms have not changed before you book.
Check what the base rate includes
Read the written terms to see what is included in the daily rate and what costs extra. An additional driver, child seat, pickup location, or after-hours service may change the total. These charges differ between providers, so review each offer on its own terms.
Compare the deposit and payment timing
Ask how much the deposit is, how it is held, what triggers its release, and how long return may take. A deposit may not become a final cost, but it affects the funds available on your card during the trip. Check payment timing, accepted cards, and cancellation terms in the confirmation.
Understand insurance and your responsibility
Read the insurance description carefully for covered events, exclusions, and the amount the driver may have to pay. Do not rely on a broad phrase such as “full insurance”; check what the contract actually includes. Ask the provider for written clarification of any unclear term before deciding.
Review mileage and late-return rules
Compare the daily distance allowance, extra-distance charge, fuel rule, and how a late return is calculated. A restriction that does not fit your route can make a low quote more expensive. Put the terms side by side and consider possible costs as well as the headline price.
Keep useful details in a short written checklist; it makes comparison easier and helps you return to questions that are still unresolved later.
